THE BEST cure goes like this:

1. Chop onions with a machete.

2. Run to the ex-lovers home with the machete accidently falling in your sock, and accidently drop it into his arm copule of times, you know.

Works like a charm. Judges and juries have been very understanding.

Ms. Margo Rabb, think out of the box.

There is no cure for heartbreak, there is only forgetting. Loud music, regular exercise, at least minimal attention to preserving the appearances, futile as they may be, and the company of friends who won't think less of you for allowing regret or anger to show all help. Oh, and lost civilizations are nice-- I like the art on greek and mayan pottery.

That excerpt was really amazing, and I am going to (a) buy and (b) read, two things one can't take for granted these days. As for my cure for heartbreak: I was trying to think of what I did the last few times I was destroyed by a boy I loved, other than call the previous boys to ask them WHY? WHY? WHY? (Those were fun calls for them.) I initially was going to offer "not eat," "watch too much TV" and "make out with inappropriate boys" but then I realized that's what I did BECAUSE of heartbreak, not to get over it. This is what helped me get over it, and I do not lie: Blogging. During my last bout of heartbreak, the world was grey and rainy, and the only time I forgot about that was when I was obsessed with some blog post. It did not work with longer articles; too much room for procrastination. But blogging, with its immediacy and urgency and insta-gratification, took me away from it, and let me accomplish things that were small but real, and distracted me from being distracted. Eventually, I got over it and went on to enjoy a series of make-outs with inappropriate boys.

My cure for heartbreak is digging up every catalog that I have, going to those folded down pages and ordering every item that I thought I love but didn't think I needed at the time. I need it now and I will get it now. I deserve it, etc.

Those black Uniball Deluxe Micro Point pen are fabulous!
